SEND at UTC Derby

At UTC Derby, we are committed to ensuring that students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) receive an inclusive, high-quality education that enables them to achieve their full potential. We believe every student should have access to a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum, with appropriate support to meet their individual needs.

Our Student Support team works closely with students, families and staff to provide tailored support, promote independence and remove barriers to learning. Through effective assessment, targeted interventions and strong collaboration, we aim to ensure that all students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally, preparing them for success in further education, apprenticeships and future careers.

We had a dedicated student support room that offers a relaxing, vibrant place for students to visit when support is needed. It is also used as a base for staff with specialist knowledge. Facilities provided to assist access for disabled students include lifts to all floors, disabled toilets, a wet room and dedicated disabled car park spaces.

Our SENDCO is our Assistant Principal Kim Coates if you would like to contact her you can do so by emailed derbyadmin@utcderby.org.uk.
