AAQ Applied Science

BTEC National Applied Science is a practical and engaging Level 3 qualification designed for students who are interested in developing their knowledge of biology, chemistry and physics through real-world scientific applications. Combining theoretical understanding with hands-on laboratory work, the course develops the practical, analytical and investigative skills needed for Higher Education and careers in science, healthcare, research and related industries. Students gain experience of professional scientific techniques and learn how scientific principles are applied in a range of contexts, making it an excellent complement to A Levels and other Level 3 qualifications.

• Principles and Applications of Biology
• Principles and Applications of Chemistry
• Principles and Applications of Physics
• Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques
• Optional specialist units that allow students to further develop their scientific investigation skills and explore contemporary scientific issues

This qualification provides an excellent foundation for progression to Higher Education in scientific disciplines, as well as careers in healthcare, laboratory science, environmental science and research.

Assessment

Assessment is through a combination of external assessments and internally assessed coursework, allowing students to demonstrate both their scientific knowledge and practical investigative skills.
