Core Knowledge for Future Success

Our core GCSE subjects provide the essential knowledge, skills and qualifications that underpin future success. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, students develop strong literacy, numeracy and scientific understanding, creating a solid foundation for further study, apprenticeships and careers.

English Language

Students will explore a range of spoken and written texts, developing the communication, reading and writing skills needed to express ideas clearly and confidently.

English Literature

Students will gain an understanding of classic and contemporary literary works, exploring themes, characters and contexts while developing critical thinking and analytical skills.

Mathematics

Students will develop their understanding of mathematical concepts and processes, building confidence in problem-solving, reasoning and applying maths to real-world situations.

Sciences

Depending on ambition and ability students will either be entered for Combined Science (2 GCSE equivalent) or Triple Science: Biology, Chemisty and Physics (equivalent to 3 GCSEs). All students, regardless of pathway will cover all Sciences in their studies.

Biology

Students will explore the living world, developing their understanding of cells, genetics, ecology and human health.

Chemistry

Students will gain an understanding of the substances that make up our world, investigating their properties, reactions and applications.

Physics

Students will develop their understanding of the fundamental principles that govern the universe, including forces, energy, electricity and matter.
