A Level Further Mathematics

A Level Further Mathematics is a challenging and rewarding qualification for students who have a strong aptitude for mathematics and want to explore the subject in greater depth. Studied alongside A Level Mathematics, the course extends and deepens mathematical understanding through advanced topics such as complex numbers, matrices, differential equations and proof. Course components include:

  • Core Pure Mathematics: developing advanced mathematical knowledge through topics such as proof, complex numbers, matrices, algebra, calculus and differential equations.
  • Further Pure Mathematics: extending mathematical techniques and concepts beyond those studied in A Level Mathematics.
  • Further Statistics: applying advanced statistical methods to analyse and interpret data.
  • Further Mechanics: exploring mathematical models of motion, forces and physical systems.
  • Decision Mathematics: developing mathematical approaches to problem-solving, decision-making and optimisation.

Assessment

Assessment is through four written examinations taken at the end of the course, covering both compulsory and optional areas of Further Mathematics
