From engineering design and advanced manufacturing to CAD, prototyping and production technologies, you’ll explore how engineers use creativity, science and technology to solve real-world challenges and shape the future.

Through hands-on learning, employer-led projects and access to industry-standard facilities, students gain experience of the technologies, processes and skills used across modern engineering environments. Along the way, you’ll build a strong foundation for Post 16 study in Engineering, with progression routes into university, apprenticeships and careers across a wide range of engineering, manufacturing and technology sectors.
Qualifications
Through a combination of qualifications, employer-led projects, practical experiences and real-world learning, students build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for further study and future careers in engineering, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.
Cambridge National in Engeering Manufacture
Students develop the practical and technical skills needed to understand how engineered products are planned, manufactured and quality assured in modern industrial environments. Through exploring engineering materials, manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM technologies and quality control systems, they learn how design concepts are transformed into real-world products. Combining technical knowledge with creativity, problem-solving and project work, the qualification provides an excellent foundation for Post 16 study and future careers in engineering, advanced manufacturing and product development.
Cambridge National in Engineering Design
Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to bring engineering ideas to life, following the design process from initial concept through to evaluation and refinement. Exploring design briefs, user requirements, engineering drawing techniques and computer-aided design (CAD), they learn how engineers develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Combining creativity with technical problem-solving, the qualification provides an excellent foundation for Post 16 study and future careers in engineering, product design, manufacturing and related industries.
