Our UTC Derby Pride Park students are celebrating their GCSE and technical results.

Students studying with us complete technical qualifications in engineering or health and life sciences as well as GCSEs at the technical school for 13 to 19-year-olds based on Locomotive Way, Pride Park.

Students have ahcieved:

  • 79% Grade 4+ and 52% Grade 5+ in maths
  • 78% Grade 4+ in English
  • 47% Level 2 Merit or above in Engineering
  • 71% of students achieving a 4+ in two sciences
  • 100% pass rate in Health and Life Sciences
  • 100% pass rate in core subjects
  • 78% Level 2 Pass in engineering
  • One student achieving 7 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s who is a year younger than their peers
  • Numerous students securing highly sought after apprenticeships

Lee Kirkwood, Principal of UTC Derby Pride Park, said: “These results are a fantastic achievement for our students.”

“Whilst they study with us, young people also benefit from a well-rounded education and achieve the technical skills that employers need.

“I’d like to wish them all the very best with the next stage of their education and training.”

UTCs are technical schools backed by employers that have been set up around the country to train the next generation of young people in the skills that their regional economy needs.

Organisations supporting us include Alstom, Rolls-Royce, Toyota, the University of Derby and Joined Up Care Derbyshire, which comprises health and social care employers in the region.

Students with us learn from industry experts in specialist high tech facilities and complete GCSEs and A Levels as well as technical qualifications that are equivalent to A Levels.

Employers have shaped the curriculum by setting industry projects and providing work experience and placements.
